1.
Create a new image, 200x200 pixels, with a transparent background. Choose
the Selection tool draw an antialiased rectangle selection in the
centre of your canvas. |
2. Select the Flood Fill &
choose Linear Gradient. In the second tab option choose the Metallic
gradient and make Angle 270. Flood fill your selection. Press CTRL+D
to de-select the rectangle. |
3. Click on Geometric Selections
and choose the Ellipse shape. Make a small elliptical selection on the
bottom edge of your rectangle then delete the selection. Repeat along the
edge of the shape to give it an "Upside-down Crown" effect. |
4. Press CTRL+A to select the
entire image, then click anywhere within the image to select our metallic
rectangle. Create a new layer. Go to Image/Effects/Cutout.... Make
the Shadow Color black, Opacity 60, Blur 20 &
make both the Vertical and Horizontal offsets 0. Press CTRL+D
to de-select your selection. |
5. Create a new layer and drag it under
the current two layers. |
6. Click on the Shape tool and
select the Circle shape. Set the Style to stroked and Line
Width to 6. Draw a circle, about 4/5 the width of your rectangle.
Click on the Selection tool then press CTRL+A to select the
whole image. Click anywhere within the image and your circle will be
selected. Select the Flood Fill tool. Keeping the linear gradient
with the metallic preset, change the Angle to 180 and flood fill
your selection. |
7. Go to Image/Effects/Inner Bevel...
use the settings as shown in the adjacent image. |
8. Your image is finished. Press CTRL+A
to select the entire image, press CTRL+SHIFT+C to copy and merge
the layers then press CTRL+V to paste as a new image. You will be
left with a single layer transparent image that you can export as a
picture tube to use with any Christmas ornaments you make. |
9. Add
your newly created tube to the bauble you made from the previous page. To
make it look even better, try adding the attachment just above the top of
the bauble & using the Retouch Tool set to Smudge, smudge some
of the bauble upwards to meet the attachment. For the final touch, try
adding your favourite lens flare tube as a highlight. |
